New Age

So for the past few days, I've been at this Online Teaching Conference in Anaheim, CA. While it wasn't a celebration in the traditional sense, it was definitely a re conciliatory space of joy. I'm in the place where I'm ready to deepen my online teaching practice by spotlighting my instructional design prowess more. I've always taught a course or two online, but on the whole being an "online educator" has been on the back burner. Being at the conference is a celebration of transitioning into a new phase, one with greater intention focused on the tech saavyness that's been a secret sauce in my repertoire all along. Even though, this was a work trip, Chelsea and I snuck in some spa time, which was very relaxing. We chilled in the hot tub, sauna and did a few laps in the pool with weights. The steam room was a nice finale.

We thought about going to Disneyland, but after some research I found out its uber expensive and worth it mostly if you can get a FastPass to avoid the long lines. The OTC conference will be here next June, and we're already planning our Disney visit for next time around.

I took lots of pics as the conference was going on, but mostly of stuff I want to remember when planning my syllabi. The two most interesting sessions were on Universal Design and Teaching across generations. I feel like I do this anyway, which basically suggests that we give folks lots of options. However, I got some more tools to add to my box to help me do that. This fall is the gateway to a new age and this little conference was the beginning of that. We spent some time in my room after everything was over today and had a pow wow, it wasn't Disneyland...but it was priceless.
